Love Don’t Cost A Thing: Toronto’s 7 Best Valentine’s Day Gift Stores

Need to find something special for that special someone this Valentine’s Day? If you want to discover something truly unique this year, you can skip some of the more traditional options and go with something more unique – and more local.

In preparation for February 14th, here are some of our absolute favourite gift stores for Toronto Valentine’s Day ideas and inspiration…

Drake General Store (West Queen West)

At first glance, you might recognize the Drake from their hotel’s iconic presence on Queen West. Just across the street, though, you’ll find the Drake General Store. Specialists in Canadian-made goods for men and women, this is an easy spot to start searching for romantic gifts – whether it’s toques, pennants, or other unique items from local makers.

Kid Icarus (Kensington Market)

Kid Icarus is already known for being located in one of Toronto’s coolest neighbourhoods, Kensington Market, but they are also a destination for fun prints, home accents, and stationary galore. We’d recommend stopping by here to pick up a card this Valentine’s Day, at the very least, to really make someone smile.

Cocktail Emporium (Queen West/Kensington Market)

If you have a would-be bartender to find a gift for this year, the Cocktail Emporium (with locations in both Kensington Market and Queen West) is a great place to find cocktail recipe books, shakers, blends, and more. Need help finding this spot? You can’t miss it thanks to its signature pink façade and retro lettering out front.

Mjölk (The Junction)

Mjölk is the Junction’s answer to stylish design and one-of-a-kind home accessories. They specialize in products from Scandinavian and Japanese artists, and you can find a gift for just about any budget – although they do specialize in home goods that fall on the higher end of the budget. Even if you don’t leave with anything, visiting this spot is enough fun on its own!

Toronto Designers Market (Roncesvalles Village)

Featuring a revolving assortment of local artists and artisans, it’s easy to get lost in all the unique gifts that you can find at the Toronto Designers Market. Right on the border of Parkdale and Roncesvalles Village, this is a great spot if you want to get something that has that extra special bit of artistic, local, and homemade flair to it.

Easy Tiger (Little Portugal)

Easy Tiger Goods is perfect if your valentine loves unique home goods that you wouldn’t be able to find anywhere else. You can find things like ring dishes, teas, fine chocolates, modern jewelry, books, and all sorts of unique gifts from around the world. This Dundas West staple will have something, that’s for sure!

Brika (Riverside)

Brika has a handful of stores around Toronto, but the spot in Riverside is just one part of this exciting neighbourhood’s growth and development. Featuring lots of local artisans, you can purchase everything from necklaces to candles and everything in between.

These are just some of our favourite spots to find one-of-a-kind Valentine’s Day gifts. Want to know what else we think of the city, and some of our other favourite spots? Check out some of our neighbourhood guides today.
