Parliament & Adelaide a tired intersection ready for a makeover. Could a residential development be the answer?

Developers have proposed that condo’s is what this intersection needs. Two similarly sized developments are planned for the Northeast and Northwest corners.  The building on the Northwest corner of Parliament and Adelaide has proposed a six-storey retail podium and condo units above that with the aim to preserve the 108 year old red brick Christie, Brown & Co. Stables at the base.

On the other corner Great Gulf has proposed a similar condo that would wrap around the corners of Parliament, Adelaide, and Power streets. A 23 storey  tower with a mix of condo and rental units, promising each of the owners access to a balcony or rooftop green space.

So looking at the current vacant office building, a pretty much empty parking lot, and a few Victorian homes, are these condos the answer to giving this intersection the fresh new face it needs to bring it to life?
