Change in this city is inevitable and in most cases it is all for the better! Regent park is undergoing a major redevelopment and has been for quite some time. The end is not quite in site but there are some amazing steps that I feel should be noted thus far.
1) The aquatic centre – this truley is state of the art and is certainly a place that should be utilized by all! It features a 25 meter lap pool, kiddie/leisure pool, a therapeutic warm jet pool, diving boards gaolore, a tarzan rope and a water slide!
2) Paint Box Bistro – Operations is the social mandate at Paint Box Bistro. It strives to provide training and opportunities for the residents in Regent Park. Through this mandate they strive to deliver healthy quality food options, confidence building career opportunities, and a strong customer and employee experience. Menu items include the beet primer and the hanger steak.
3) Nelson Mandela Public School has re-opened its doors. This is a remarkable project re-vamping a historic Toronto building. The project strived to turn this school into a bright airy communal space. Windows were enlarged and materials and layouts were carefully planned to create a large bright inviting space. The school is home to roughly 660 students from K-8. Check out this great Urbantoronto link for photos and more information.
Be sure to make some time to come and utilize some of these great new additions to Regent park – perhaps a swim and a bite is in the cards?
