Toronto’s Best “Day Date” Spots

Share This Post:

There’s never a dull moment in this city, regardless of the weather! If you want to have some fun while staying warm, then these winter date ideas in Toronto are for you. Learn something new, see something beautiful, delight your taste buds – or do it all at once!

Whether you’re going out with friends or with that special someone, here’s our list of the best “day date” spots across Toronto…

Casa Loma

Known as “Toronto’s majestic castle,” Casa Loma is a throwback to European splendour and charm that is a must-visit for any local or visitor. You can tour the extravagant suites, navigate the secret passages, check out the towers or stables, and more. You can even enjoy a meal at the recently-opened BlueBlood Steakhouse or grab a hot chocolate at the Liberty Café. This grandiose estate is a spectacular reminder of a different time in the city.

Aga Khan Museum

From the outside alone, the Aga Khan Museum is breathtaking. Located just north of downtown and west of the Don Valley Parkway, this museum is filled with exhibitions, educational programs, and live performances dedicated to Muslim culture. There’s even a fantastic restaurant, and a park right out front (with a gorgeous reflecting pool). Based on looks alone, it’s no wonder why this spot is fast becoming a local landmark.

Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO)

From Andy Warhol to the Group of Seven, the AGO is filled with amazing works of art from different mediums, times, and nationalities – it’s also housed in a building designed by legendary architect Frank Gehry. The AGO always feels so alive with excitement, even on the coldest nights (and especially on Wednesdays when admission is free). Until January of 2018, you can visit acclaimed director Guillermo Del Toro’s exhibition At Home with Monsters.

St. Lawrence Market

This is a great date activity for foodies who want to explore some of the best treats in the city. Since 1803, St. Lawrence Market has been the place to go for some of the city’s best culinary adventures. These days, you can snack on fresh bagels, sample artisanal mustard, try one of the iconic peameal bacon sandwiches, and so much more! Spend a whole day here away from the cold while strolling past cheese stands and butchers, and collect souvenirs of the city that you won’t find anywhere else.

Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)

Experiencing Toronto isn’t complete without a trip to the ROM. As one of the country’s premier museums, this is the place you need to go to get your fill of art, historical artefacts, and even dinosaur bones. Better yet, starting on November 4th you’ll be able to see the museum’s latest exhibition on Vikings, featuring art and artifacts throughout the ages. From the moment you walk in through Daniel Libeskind’s Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, you’ll be blown away by how much knowledge – and how much beauty – is on offer at this iconic spot.
