Are you ready for a fun riddle? (There’s no official “prize,” by the way, but you might find an amazing new place to call home!) Here goes:

What is currently undergoing a world of exciting revitalization, is surrounded by parks and picturesque beauty, and located in the midst of three railway lines that form a perfect triangle, but is absolutely not meant for just passing through?

If you guessed The Junction Triangle neighbourhood in Toronto, congratulations! You’re absolutely correct, and this cool west-end community should be on your radar if you’re thinking of a new home.

Today, we’ll explore the idea of living in what can only be described as the “perfect blend of artsy, personality, and greenery” in more detail.

Did You Know? This neighbourhood wasn’t officially named until a vote occurred in late 2010. Other possible options – which were ultimately passed up – included: “The Wedge,” “Railtown,” and “Perth Park.” We are glad “The Junction Triangle” made the cut. Anything else just wouldn’t feel quite right.

A Historic and Postcard Worthy Location

The Junction Triangle is so named due to its location between the former Grand Trunk, Toronto Grey, and Bruce & Northern railway lines. The area was once an industrial powerhouse that later fell from glory after an economic decline starting in the 1960s.

Fortunately, this downturn was short-lived. Thanks to the revitalized West Toronto Railpath, The Junction Triangle is now one of the west-end’s most picturesque neighbourhoods.

A wide, accessible path surrounded by lush foliage makes it a popular place to ride a bike, rollerblade, stroll, cruise on a skateboard, or jog. All human-powered activity is welcome, allowing visitors to relax in nature without the rush of cars or motorcycles.

The Junction Triangle is one of many neighbourhoods we love in Toronto! Explore a few more in the posts below:

Parks, Trails, and More!

We promised you an abundance of greenery, and The Junction Triangle more than delivers, with plenty of parks and playgrounds right in the neighbourhood. These scenic spaces are perfect for whenever you want to unwind or spend time with your family.

Play basketball or soccer or cool off in the wading pool at Campbell Avenue Park. There’s also no need to hibernate during the winter. Thanks to an outdoor skating rink, you can love every minute of it until spring arrives.

Perth Square Park also boasts a splash pad and a playground where you can cool off or relax under a shade tree. In the winter, gather around and swap stories as you sip a hot chocolate by the fire pit. It’s rustic living with all of the comforts of home minutes away!

A Haven for the Arts

The Junction Triangle was built on artistry and creativity, with a welcoming vibe that’s rare to find. Sterling Road near Bloor Street is a literal hub of art galleries!

  • Most famously, this is where you’ll find the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), where rotating exhibits allow you to admire the works of local and international talent.
  • Approximately 1 minute to the north, also on Sterling Road, you’ll find Gallery 1888, along with a curated selection of contemporary art.
  • Towards is a private gallery that was first established in 2016. To date, they’ve hosted more than 40 exhibitions and shows highlighting contemporary art. Analogue Gallery is in the same building, where you can explore some of the most iconic moments in music history. (You may need an appointment for viewing at either location due to their exclusive nature.)

Throughout the neighbourhood, there are more than a dozen little creative hubs where you can explore one-of-a-kind works of art. Gallery hopping is a favourite way to spend a day for many locals!

Fun and Convenient

There is so much happening in and near the Junction Triangle, from cozy coffee shops to independently-owned restaurants and the fabulous shopping scene a few minutes to the east at the Bloordale Village BIA. It can be difficult to keep up with all the excitement, but we are sure you won’t mind.

Here are a few of our favourite places to visit on this side of the tracks:

Ethica Coffee Roasters has built a well-deserved reputation as one of Toronto’s premier coffee joints. You can shop online or in person for your favourite cup o’Joe flavour, or relax in their in-person café. If you want to take your own coffee-making skills to the next level, you can even sign up for one of their special brewing classes!

If you’re passionate about beer, the Junction Triangle is your neighbourhood, thanks to outstanding breweries like Bandit Brewery. It’s not just about what’s on tap, either. You can also find a selection of refreshing, non-alcoholic beverages, not to mention incredible appies and main courses.

Henderson Brewing Company offers tasty bites along with their sought-after brews. Visit for the menu, the performances, the company of good friends, or all of the above! The venue is also famously dog-friendly, so your best pooch can join you on the patio or at your table!

As a well-established area, you’ll find many detached homes with classic Victorian architecture throughout the Junction Triangle. New townhouses and condos are also popping up, but we’ve saved the best for last:

Due to its industrial history and older factories and warehouses, The Junction Triangle is a premium location for lofts! Even if you don’t live in one, the buildings are a fascinating sight.
