Everything to Love About Leslieville

East End Toronto is filled with hidden gems, from fabulous restaurants that make you never want to cook at home again to boutique stores with the perfect gift item. The area isn’t just highly convenient; it’s also filled with stunning scenery. Everyone can agree that the green spaces of the East are simply spectacular.

In terms of neighbourhoods, Leslieville is in a class of its own. With vibrant communities, excellent schools, and a ton of conveniences, we believe Leslieville deserves even more attention.

An Introduction to the Neighbourhood

First, let’s talk about the nitty gritty. Where is Leslieville, and what is it like to live or visit? This charming little enclave is nestled between Coxwell Avenue, Lake Shore Boulevard and the Don River. The area was once an independent village named after a famed gardner, George Leslie, who owned the Toronto Nurseries. Fittingly, the neighbourhood is all about green spaces!

Tommy Thompson Park is just one of many examples, as the site of the legendary Leslie Street Spit Trail. This area is also home to many smaller parks and playgrounds, including Leslie Grove Park, Maple Leaf Forever Park, and Greenwood Park. The latter also has an outdoor swimming pool that is free to visit all summer long. With a designated leash-free dog area, this is the perfect place for families of all stripes and sizes!

Though part of the massive City of Toronto, Leslieville retains this small, village-like feel, which you’ll encounter everywhere, from the cozy brick houses to the historic shopping district over on Queen Street. One of the first public buildings was Leslieville Public School, and this family-friendly neighbourhood is committed to excellent education to this day.

Leslieville consists of a diverse group of residents, from first-time buyers excited to put down roots to retirees who have lived here for a lifetime, as well as newcomers to Canada.

Here’s a fun fact for all film buffs and aficionados: Leslieville has been the site for countless scenes from movies, TV shows, and commercials. Even some of the scenes for the popular hit Schitt’s Creek were filmed at Revival Studios!

A Neighbourhood of Non-Stop Fun

The nearby Jimmy Simpson Recreational Centre offers a variety of sports to keep everyone active at every age, from drop-in swimming at the indoor aquatic centre to badminton games or tennis matches.
