Fall truly is one of the most magical times of the year in Toronto. As temperatures start to drop down to cozy sweater-weather degrees, the leaves begin to turn vibrant colours, and there’s a refreshing crispness in the air.
However, we Torontonians know very well what comes after fall, and it isn’t quite as pretty. That’s why we’re committed to doing our best to enjoy fall during the brief window that it’s here each year.
For those of you that feel similarly this season, we’ve put together a little guide that highlights five activities in particular that we can’t wait to get outside and take part in this fall.
So, make the most of this beautiful time of year and go enjoy these can’t-miss Toronto fall attractions.
Head Out Apple Picking
Apple picking is a classic fall activity, and it’s not just because photos in orchards look great on Instagram. Fall is when apples are in season, and nothing beats a fresh locally grown Ontario apple picked straight from the tree.
While there might not be many apple orchards here in downtown Toronto, there’s a great selection of nearby apple orchards for us city dwellers to easily enjoy.
For starters, Dixie Orchards is a go-to place for seasonal pickers of fruits and produce. Find delicious local varieties like Jonagold, Golden, Empire, Red Delicious, Honeycrisp, and Gala lining the long orchard rows of this picturesque farm just outside of Brampton.
Or, head over to Downey’s Apple Farm right around the corner in Inglewood to do your apple picking there! Once apple picking season starts in mid-August each year, it’s open season for pickers from all over the GTA to come and hand-harvest their 13 varieties of apples.
Heading back to school can feel like a big adjustment for students, but it takes some serious getting-used-to from parents too. Find out what our Back To School Tips For Parents are here!
Hit Up The Farmers’ Markets
Alternatively, you can leave the harvesting to the farmers and meet them at your local Farmers’ Market right here in Toronto! Get farm-fresh produce and other locally-grown and produced fresh food from any number of amazing Toronto-based Farmers’ Markets.
While we’re big fans of essentially any Farmers’ Market, we do have some favourites. If you haven’t been to the Leslieville Farmers’ Market in the east end, it’s always worth a trip out to see the farmers and vendors there. Head over to Greenwood Park every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support those local farmers and producers whenever you get the chance!
The Leslieville Farmers’ Market is just one of the many things we love to do when in Toronto’s vibrant and exciting East end. Find out about some of our other favourite activities and how we like to Explore The East Side here.
We also love the Trinity Bellwoods Farmers Market, which takes place on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in Trinity Bellwoods Park. Find their fun selection of farmers, purveyors, and vendors in the northwest corner of the massive downtown Toronto park until they shut down for the season on October 26.
Over in Bloor West Village is where you’ll find the Annette Village Farmers’ Market. Like Trinity Bellwoods, the Annette Village Farmers’ Market is a weekday market, running every Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. out of the Runnymede Presbyterian Church. Keep your eyes peeled for some of Ontario’s freshest in-season produce next time you’re in the area!

Take In The Colours Of Fall
One of the biggest reasons we love fall so much is because of the stunning change of colours leaves go through over the course of the season. Bright yellows, brilliant reds, vivid oranges, and every shade in between immediately catch your eyes every time you pass by a turning tree in autumn.
While there’s no shortage of trees and parks across Toronto where you can experience this fall phenomenon for yourself every day, it’s often worth it to go and seek out particular areas where the fall foliage is the focus. For example, the Evergreen Brick Works at 550 Bayview Avenue in Toronto is always full of leaf spotters come fall, and the rolling hills and winding trails make for some beautiful, brisk autumn walks.
Similarly, the Albion Hills Conservation Park at 16500 Peel Regional Road 50 in Caledon just outside of the city is perfect for fall foliage exploration. With over 50 kilometres of trails to hike, bike, or run along, chances are you’ll see every single shade of red across the leaves of the trees here.
There’s nothing quite like living downtown. With so many fun events, activities, amenities, and more all within arms’ reach, there’s always something going on. Get Refreshed At The Cask Days Beer Festival
Since 2005, the Cask Days Beer Festival has held (typically) multi-day events to celebrate unpasteurized, unfiltered, and naturally carbonated beer served directly from their brewing barrels. Mix in local food, art, and music, and you’ve got yourself one heck of a fall festival.
Most recently, the festival founded by Bar Volo — a well-known rustic Italian bar in downtown Toronto — has been held at the Evergreen Brick Works, and most usually attracts quite the turn out of guests.
Not quite as into beer as we are? Not a problem, you’ll find a plethora of local cider producers too, as well as a long list of exciting food vendors. If you have the time, we strongly recommend you check out the festival this fall. Just don’t forget to buy a ticket!

Visit Martino Manor
If there’s one particular holiday we look forward to every fall season, it’s Halloween. We love nothing more than dressing up, heading out to parties, and feeling all-around festive throughout the month of October.
If you have the same love and affection for Halloween as we do, then you’ll love the Martino Manor Haunted House, located at 7 McIntosh Avenue in Etobicoke. These Halloween-themed interactive haunted house and maze exhibits truly are some of the most thrilling fall activities you can do throughout the month of October in the lead-up to Halloween.
Open Thursdays through Sundays starting from October 1 until October 31, you can sign up to be scared by in-costume staff, ghoulish gags, and creepy Halloween decor for just $19.99 per person. Buy your tickets ahead of time to make sure you don’t miss out on these fun fall festivities!
Trinity Bellwoods, Bloor West Village, and Etobicoke are some of the best places to live and play in Toronto’s west end, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Get our tips on how you can Explore The West Side here.
