5 Places to Celebrate Halloween With Your Kids in Toronto

Share This Post:

Another September has come and gone, and October is well underway. It’s time for fall colours, autumn sweaters, and (of course) Halloween fun! While there’s never any shortage of events in Toronto during the spookiest season, this year will be an especially good one for families looking to enjoy some local festivities. So round up those kiddie costumes and get into the spirit, because it’s time to enjoy some eerie family fun!

If you’re looking for something to do with the kids this Halloween, here are five Toronto events you’re going to love…

1) Haunted High Park

From October 18th to 30th, enjoy a ghoulish celebration at the city’s largest green space. Haunted High Park is one of the creepiest (and most fascinating) Halloween happenings taking place in Toronto this year. Due to its scary themes, this event isn’t recommended for children under 8. Fortunately for those with older kids, this is the ideal place to hear a ghost story, watch a theatrical seance, or tour the historic home (and tomb) of High Park’s founders! Tickets are available for $32.50.

2) The Bata Shoe Museum’s Halloween Spooktacular

The Bata Shoe Museum is one of Toronto’s most unique attractions, yet many Torontonians have never explored it. Fortunately, the upcoming Halloween Spooktacular is one of the best times to check it out—just be sure to bring your little ones along! On October 26th and 27th, this beautiful downtown space is the place to go for cookie decorating, craft making, and even a few seasonal games. You can attend for the cost of admission to the museum, while your kids can join in the fun for free if they’re in costume!

3) Seasons Annual Haunted House

Nothing says “Halloween” like a haunted house, and you’ll find one of the best in the city at Seasons Family Centre. Located in the Annex, this community staple hosts daycare programs, theme birthday parties, and a variety of kid-friendly events. That said, on October 27th, it will take on a much creepier air. This is the place to go if you’re looking to get spooked! Enjoy the haunted house, sample some tasty treats, and end things off with a group photo in the pumpkin patch. A family of four can attend for just $25.

4) Bump in the Night

Kids of all ages love the Toronto Zoo, and (let’s face it) so do a lot of parents. When Halloween rolls around, there’s even more reason to visit. From October 19th to 26th, you and your family can head down to the zoo to learn all about nocturnal creatures—and why they only come out at night. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m., and it includes a moonlight hike (so remember to dress warm). Due to the evening start time, Bump in the Night is ideal for kids who don’t have early bedtimes.

5) Legends of Horror

Casa Loma is a major midtown attraction—and a beautiful piece of architecture. What better place for Halloween festivities than in a Gothic Revival mansion? Until October 31st, you can experience some serious chills at Casa Loma during Legends of Horror. Tour the grounds to see theatrical interpretations of classic horror figures play out in front of you. This is another event that’s perfect for older kids (though children under 13 can attend, so long as they’re with a parent). Tickets are $40 online.
